Mr. Muyiwa W. Onifade

Muyiwa W. Onifade is a career diplomat, with extensive experience in international relations, policy planning, and multilateral affairs.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2008 from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Over the years, he has served in various capacities, including as Third Secretary (Research and Statistics), Second Secretary (Office of the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics), First Secretary/Personal Assistant to the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Counsellor (Policy Planning), Senior Counsellor (Office of the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics), Minister Counsellor, Second United Nations Division / Special Assistant to the Director, International Organisations Department.
Mr. Onifade has served at the Embassy of Nigeria in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, where he handled Economic/Commercial Affairs, Culture and Information, as well as at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, New York, where he was the Head of Chancery, as well as the Head of the Security Council and General Assembly units.
He also served as the Special Adviser to the President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Prior to his posting to Vienna, he served as Assistant Director (Protocol) and Team Leader in the Office of the State Chief of Protocol to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He currently serves as Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Nigeria/Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, Vienna, Austria.
Mr. Onifade holds a Master’s degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Adekunle Ajasin University, Nigeria.
